EB-5 Investor Visa Program Extended
About the EB-5 Visa and Regional Centers

The EB-5 program which allows foreign nationals to attain lawful permanent resident status in exchange for a qualifying investment and the creation of 10 jobs in the United States has been now extended until March 6, 2009. The Regional Center Pilot Program was set to expire by September 30, 2008.

Obama, the 44th President of the United States. Now What?

With the inauguration of democratic President Barack Obama, a more liberal approach toward immigration is expected and comprehensive immigration reform now appears likely. As a matter of fact, when referring to this issue during his campaign Obama said:

“… we must fix the dysfunctional immigration bureaucracy and increase the number of legal immigrants to keep families together and meet the demand for jobs that employers cannot fill”
Many articles have been recently written on the subject. The Detroit Free Press quotes Senate Majority Leader Reid who said "On immigration, there's been an agreement between [Mr.] Obama and [Mr.] McCain to move forward on that. ... We'll do that"; and "We've got McCain and we've got a few others. I don't expect much of a fight at all."

USCIS Announces Increased Period of Stay for Trade NAFTA Professional Workers from Canada or Mexico

USCIS has recently announced that the maximum period of time a TN visa holder can remain in the U.S. has been extended from one (1) year to three (3) years, making the TN visa now a much better option. This is good news for skilled Canadian and Mexican professionals who usually complained about the burdensome yearly procedures for readmission under this visa category. The new rule will spare TN visa holders from having to travel out of the U.S. or seeking an extension every year.
