Federal Public Defender Office Appoints
Bernstein Osberg-Braun & de Moraes

The Federal Public Defenders office recently appointed Bernstein Osberg-Braun & de Moraes to represent survivors of the recent tragedy where a boat capsized off the coast of Florida near West Palm Beach. The boat was overloaded with Haitian immigrants attempting to reach Miami. Bernstein Osberg-Braun & de Moraes represents these survivors who are material witnesses in the U.S. government’s prosecution of human traffickers.

We are excited to launch our new website www.eb5investorvisa.com presenting the upcoming EB-5 seminars that will be taking place in various locations around the world and in Miami. The seminars will be focusing on the EB-5 investor visa program, requirements, qualifications and wealth management services.



U.S. Senate Votes to Make the EB-5 Program Permanent

On July 8, 2009, the Senate adopted an amendment sponsored by Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) to make permanent the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Regional Center pilot program. The amendment was added to the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act.

Karen Caco and Steve Waserstein Join

We would like to welcome Karen Caco and Steve Waserstein who have both joined our firm as ‘Of-Counsel’.

Karen Caco is a seasoned immigration attorney & EB-5 guru. She will be joining Bernstein Osberg-Braun & de Moraes on a tour through Latin America conducting seminars on EB-5 Investor Visas. Join us in Caracas, Panama City, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo, Mexico City in 2009 and in Europe and the Middle East in 2010. Karen’s practice takes her across our nation and worldwide where she assists businesses and individuals with all of their immigration needs and collaborates with individuals around the world at various Embassies and Consulates. Local and state newspapers and networks such as ABC and NBC have interviewed her numerous times to gain perspective on current immigration issues affecting our country. Ms. Caco also writes immigration columns bi-weekly for various print and online magazines. Karen personally visited all of the USCIS approved Regional Centers and has put the Regional Center stories onto DVD for sale online.

Attorney Steve L. Waserstein will be collaborating with Bernstein Osberg-Braun & de Moraes and individuals interested in the EB-5 investor visa program. Mr. Waserstein focuses his practice on tax, corporate and real estate law, including international and U.S. tax and estate planning and wealth preservation; compliance with U.S. tax laws, joint ventures and partnerships including shareholders agreements, operating or partnership agreements, buy sell agreements, and management agreements, among other things. Mr. Wasertein has represented families from the U.S. and outside the U.S., especially South America, with a net worth ranging from $10 million to over $1 billion in wealth preservation, tax and estate planning, pre-immigration planning, and the formation and maintenance of complex trust structures. He will be providing tax advice for individuals in need of wealth management services.
